I was thinking last night and again this morning about a
verse that we
covered in the First Corinthians study recently:
"And what do you have that you did not receive?" (1 Cor 4:7).
It prompted me to think about God's grace. I so utterly depend upon that
grace, perhaps even more than I know.
I told you recently about my fasting and how great a time that was
spiritually for me. And yet, I can say that the month since coming out of
that seems to me to be a bit of a letdown. Not that God has any failing in
Him of course... It's my failing and weakness and mortality. I've
kind of
sensed myself getting a little comfortable without that constant reminder I
had (hunger) when I fasted. And yet, for all of that, I know that the
Lord
has not left me. In fact, I can see that He's continued to lead me, help
me, maybe even use me here and there! And what is that? I see it as
God's
grace towards me. Even His discipline and rebuke are evidences of His
grace, for those whom He loves He rebukes and chastens! And further,
challenging times and trials are allowed by Him so that we might learn and
grow. All of this reveals that practical, day-by-day grace from the LORD
that I (we) so depend upon. For this, GOD BE PRAISED.
Truly, only God is God. The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God
of Jacob. The glorious Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Everything about Him is good and righteous and just, and He is full of mercy
and grace and love towards those who will humble themselves before Jesus
Christ His Son. ANYTHING good in my life... I know it is from Him
entirely. Even the things that "I've worked for"... It is
God alone who
grants any victory or blessing. Every good thing has been received from
Him, and to Him all praise and thanksgiving is due. Indeed, His grace is
MATCHLESS. Blessed be the name of the LORD our God.
See you soon.
In Jesus, looking for His glorious appearing,
