What We Believe

Fellowship Bible Church is a congregation of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. Our name says it all: We highly value spiritual fellowship - with the Lord and with each other. We highly value verse-by-verse teaching in the Bible, the word of God. And we highly value all that it means to be a church - the bride of Christ, called to be His very own, worshiping and serving Him faithfully until we are with Him forever where He is.

At Fellowship Bible Church, everything we believe is drawn from the Bible, our God-given final, absolute authority for faith and life.

  • We Believe that God is the Eternal King, the one true God existing in three persons of one essence: Father, Son (Word), and Holy Spirit - equal in power and glory. (Deut 33:27; Job 11:7-9; Psa 95:3; 147:5; Isa 45:5; Matt 5:48; 28:19,20; John 1:1,14,18; 4:24; 10:30; 14:6,7,9,26; 15:26; 1 Cor 8:4; 2 Cor 3:17,18; 13:14; Eph 3:14-21; Rev 1:4; 5:13)
  • We Believe that God's Kingdom is everlasting. From His throne, through His Son, God created, upholds and governs all that exists. (Gen 1:1,31; Psa 45:6; 47:7,8; 93:1,2; 95:3-5; 96:4-6; 103:19; 104:14-29; 145:13; Dan 4:3; John 1:1-3; 1 Cor 8:6; Col 1:15-17; Heb 1:1-3)
  • We Believe that Satan, initially a good angel, rebelled against God, was cast out of God's presence taking a host of angels with him and established a counter-kingdom of darkness and evil. (Isa 14:12-14; Ezek 28:11-17; Mark 3:22-26; 2 Cor 11:14; Eph 2:1,2; 6:12; Col 1:13,14; 1 John 5:19; Rev 12:7-9)
  • We Believe that God created man in His image, for Himself and to rule the earth. Tempted by Satan, man fell, bringing sin and death. Satan gained temporary dominion over the earth. Human beings are born in sin, inclined to evil and subject to death. They are captive to Satan's kingdom unless delivered by Jesus Christ. (Gen 1:26,27; 3:1,8; Psa 51:5; Ezek 18:4; John 5:14; 8:44; Rom 1:21; 2:5,12; 5:12,16; 8:20-23; 1 Cor 15:22; Gal 1:3-5; 4:8,9; Col 1:13; Heb 9:27; 1 John 5:19; Rev 12:9)
  • We Believe that God did not abandon His rule, but in His providence established covenants with Abraham, Moses and David thereby revealing grace, promising to deliver His people, Israel and to bless all nations through them, promising an heir to the throne of David who would rule as Messiah forever. (Gen 12:2-3; 17:3-8; Exo 19:3-6; 24:3-7; 2 Sam 7:11b-16; Psa 24:1; Isa 9:6,7; Jer 23:5-6; Rom 4:16; 8:3,4; Gal 3:6-9,13,14; Eph 2:1,2; Heb 1:3)
  • We Believe that God honored His covenants, fulfilling His promises by sending His Son into the world. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, fully God and fully man in one person. Anointed and empowered by the Holy Spirit, He initiated God's Kingdom reign on earth. He fashioned the church to be the present instrument of His Kingdom. He died for the sins of the world and was raised from the dead the third day proving He was the Son of God with power. (Matt 16:18; Mark 1:14,15; Luke 1:30-35; 3:21,22; 4:14-21; 9:1,2; 17:20,21; John 1:14,17,18,29; Rom 1:2-4; Rom 5:19; Gal 4:4; Phil 2:5-7)
  • We Believe that Jesus perfectly met the demands of the law, shed His blood, died on the cross taking God's judgment for sin which mankind deserved. He is the promised son of David who reigns as the Messiah King, forever advancing God's reign throughout the earth. (Mark 8:31; Luke 2:10,11; Acts 2:24-36; Rom 1:1-4; 5:18,19; 3:23; 6:23; 1 Cor 15:3-5,24-26; Gal 3:13,14; Eph 1:7,19-23; Col 2:13-15; Heb 1:1-3; 1 Pet 2:24; Rev 5:5)
  • We Believe that the Holy Spirit was first poured out on the Church at Pentecost in power, and continues baptizing believers into the Body of Christ and giving ministry gifts. His presence enables worship, sanctification, edification, evangelism by the words and works of Jesus and drives back the kingdom of Satan. (Luke 11:20; John 14:12,13,16,17; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; Rom 8:3,4; 12:1-6; 15:18,19; 1 Cor 4:20; 12:4-7,13; 14:12,26; Eph 5:18-20; 6:10-20; 1 John 3:8b)
  • We Believe that the Holy Spirit permanently indwells every believer. He is our helper, teacher and guide. We believe in the empowering of the Spirit for ministry and the exercise of biblical gifts. (Joel 2:28,29; Mark 1:41; 16:18; Luke 6:18b,19; 24:49; John 14:26; 16:7,13-15; Acts 2:15-17; 4:31; 8:14-25; 13:1-3; 19:1-6; Rom 8:9,10,14; 1 Cor 2:4-5; 12:7-11; 14:1,5; 2 Cor 4:7; 6:4-7; 1 Thes 5:19-21; 1 Tim 4:14; 2 Tim 1:6)
  • We Believe that the Holy Spirit inspired the writers of scripture so that the Bible is without error in the original manuscripts. The sixty-six books of the Bible are our final, absolute authority for faith and life. (Psa 19:7-9; Isa 40:8; Matt 5:17,18; 7:21,24; 24:35; Luke 24:44; John 10:35; 14:26; 1 Cor 2:12,13; 1 Thes 2:13; 2 Tim 3:16,17; James 1:22-25; 2 Pet 1:20,21)
  • We Believe that the world is under the domination of Satan and that people are sinners by nature and choice. All, therefore, are under God's just judgment. Through the preaching of the good news of Jesus and the Kingdom and through the work of the Holy Spirit, God gives new life to all who repent of their sins and trust Jesus as Lord and Savior. Therefore, these individuals are saved by God's s grace and not by works of righteousness. This releases them from Satan's domain, bringing them into God's kingdom. (Mark 1:14,15; Luke 4:5-7; John 3:5-8; 16:7-11; Acts 2:38; 8:12; 28:31; Rom 1:21-23,32; 5:1,2,9; 6:23; 8:15; 10:9; 1 Cor 15:22; Gal 4:6; Eph 2:1-3; 2:8-10 ; 5:5,6,25; Phil 3:20; Col 1:13,14; Heb 13:12; 1 Pet 1:1,2,23; 1 John 4:13-15; 5:19)
  • We Believe that there is one holy Church comprised of all who truly believe in the only begotten son of God (the Lord Jesus Christ). They form the living Body of Christ of which He is Head. (Matt 16:17,18; John 17:20,21; Rom 12:4,5; 1 Cor 1:2; 3:16,17; 12:27; Eph 1:22; 2:18,19; 4:3-6; 5:23; Titus 3:4-7; 1 Pet 2:9,10)
  • We Believe that Jesus Christ gave two ordinances to the Church: water baptism (immersion) and the Lord's Supper (symbolic). Both are available to all believers. (Matt 28:19,20; 1 Cor 11:23-26)
  • We Believe that God's kingdom has come to earth by our Lord Jesus Christ, continues by the power of the Spirit through the Church and will be consummated in the glorious and triumphant return of Christ to earth. His return includes the judgment of Satan, resurrection of the dead, eternal blessing of the righteous and eternal conscious punishment of the wicked in Hell. Then will come a new heavens and new earth where righteousness will reign and God will forever be worshipped. (Dan 7:13,14; Matt 4:23; 6:10; 10:7,8; 12:28; 24:14; 25:31-46; Mark 13:11,26; John 15:26,27; Acts 1:9-11; Rom 14:17,18; 1 Cor 15:51,52; 2 Thes 2:8; 1 Tim 1:17; 6:13-16; 2 Pet 3:13; Rev 7:9-12; 19:11-16; 20:10-15; 21:5,27)
